Rules of TG discord chat

Hello,

I fell it is time to remind everybody that... if you ever hear anything illegal going on on TG or on the TG Discord (or on Discord in general, or another such place connected to our community), such as for example an adult having a sexual conversation with someone who is a minor by USA law (is under 18). Please report this to the staff as soon as you can.

We promise to handle the issue professionally and discretely. Your safety is our responsibility. Everybody's safety and not just physical safety but also emotional safety. Friends do not let friends suffer needlessly.

If you did not read the thread I linked above, I will reiterate: it is not unusual for predators to make you feel responsible for their misdeeds. Please trust us that we will act professionally and discretely with the information you provide and that we will get our facts straight before we act.

That being said, please keep in mind that different online services have different Terms of Service. Specifically, I would like to alert you to the Discord community guidelines: https://discordapp.com/guidelines ...which are a cleaned up version of their Terms of Service that are easy to read and easy to follow.

• Sharing content that is directly threatening someone's physical or financial state. Do not threaten to harm another person or someone related to another person in any capacity. Do not tell other people you will hurt or kill them. Do not dox people. Respect other people's desire for privacy.
• Doing anything illegal on Discord. This is directly from our Terms of Service. • Sharing or linking to content with intent to shame or degrade another individual. Do not share sexually explicit content of other people without their consent. Do not share or promote sharing of revenge porn.
  

There terms apply in tandem with TG rules for the TG Discord community. And they also apply to the rest of Discord including Direct Messages and other Discord servers. Furthermore doing things which are illegal in the USA is dangerous for yourself as well as the people around you.

Keep in mind that all of this applies regardless of whether or not we agree with it and can have serious consequences! A ban following the breaking of these rules might be the least of your problems.

That being said, please come clean with TG staff at least, together we'll work something out. No matter our personal qualms, your history, or what you have done, if you're a TG member, we'll do what we can to protect you.

P.S.: We've updated the rules with a new rule #15, which is there to protect you as much as it is to protect the TG community from possible legal repercussions of the actions of our members.

Im happy you've made a message like this, especially for the pups. I applaud how the staff members continually work towards a safer community. In saying that, i've read the new rule which has been implemented and had a few things to say.

Rule: Anyone under 18 involved in "sexting" (exchanging explicit photos or videos) another member will be banned until their 18th birthday.

I believe that a part of the rule should be edited and should include the fact that sexting can also refer to explicit text messages. That way, everyone is clear and no one can be 'played off' in technicalities with that rule.

The second thing I wanted to talk about was the consequence of such an act. It is not my place to instruct either yourself or Lycan in coming up with the consequences in breaking particular rules -You guys keep the guide running, you make the rules. But something i'm wondering is how minor members (under 18) can be banned until they're 18 years old. In saying this, I believe the justification for this rule should be made clear.

For my example, i'm going to assume that it is illegal for any minors (under 18) to send explicit photos or videos in every country, in saying that, does this rule take into consideration the age of consent which may be present in some countries, for texting? My intention in mentioning this is to not open a channel for minors to engage in this act, but rather protect them from being banned for engaging in it, should consent have been clearly provided.

This raises the question as to how the guide will handle situations.

Another thing I wanted to talk about is how you've mentioned to report anything to staff members if something illegal has occurred on Discord in general. I believe it is somewhat reassuring that an adult can be of assistance when it comes to these situations, however I believe that if a situation occurs on Discord in general, it would be best to report the incident to Discord themselves. But in saying this, if a member caused a situation occurred on the Discord in general, for instance, they may have been harassing someone who is not a member of the guide. How will the guide go about in handling external issues members have committed?

I will (or if someone else will) respond to the rest of your argument, but I wanted to address this first.

The Discord Trust & Safety Team instructed us that we are required to report such issues to them, otherwise administrative action may be taken against the TG Discord server as a whole.

This is also for the best, as Discord staff can view all messages shared on Discord if such a need arises and they will be able to judge best whether or not something illegal had been done. They are also likely to handle the case professionally and discretely.
