  misconseptions on therianthropy
Posted in: Introduction to Therianthropy Posted by: crow-ley - 2024-03-03 4:54

So recently I was on YouTube picking something in the background to watch as i was making my opossum mask I see this YouTube short (not saying who) saying ' how to become a therian. ' Now me, being the curious thing I am, clicked on it watching it all the way through, because sometimes they have a twist (etc. it's a loop so it never tells them. or they say ' you can't, therianthorpy is not a choice ' which I love btw), this was not the case. it was telling the viewer that you have to wear gear, do vocals, and do quads all the time. which made me frustrated. but I did not let that go to my head. the reason I'm making this thread in the first place to remind other pups that this is not the case. don't be fooled by these people. and if a fellow therian is forcing you to do quads, wear gear, and or do vocals even if you don't want to, ignore them. they are not your friend.
please, do not harass the people who do make these types of videos (unless it's really bad), they most likely are confused on therianthropy due to somebody spreading false info, or they are only telling people what they see rather than doing research. please instead kindly educate them about therianthropy, so they have a better grip on it. if they still do not listen to you, don't waste your time on them. let them figure it out by themselves.
as always, do be careful out there, and I care about you all! stay wild!

To me Therianthropy doesn't actually have anything to do with the animal. My Therianthropy is the experiences I get and this is what I struggle to explain. The animal connection is the explanation I opt for.

I think the mistake is to go out of your way looking for animals that might fit you. It's easy to feel empathy for animals (especially ones you like) and no doubt you will find a connection if you look for it (after all, we are literately related to animals) -- but that is not helpful. The more sensible approach is to look at the experiences you have and try to find an explanation for them. That explanation doesn't have to involve Therianthropy, or a particular animal, you gotta be honest with yourself.

RE: Theory of Therianthropy as a Developmental Adaptation to Trauma or Autism
Posted in: Explanations of Therianthropy Posted by: crowboy13 - 2024-03-02 20:45

my childhood was... quaint. but i do think that trauma has a lot to do with my therianthropy, i just recently have been digging into my therianthropy (about 4 months ago), but i have always felt out of place around people, tried REALLY hard to make friends (sometimes a little two hard) and they never lasted. I've been diagnosed with adhd and my mom thinks it's a hyperfixation, but i can conquer that it's not. I have had a LOT of trauma from ages 9+ and i think that has mustered my deep therianthropy out of myself. If that makes any sense lol. This thread is cool, good read as well

  RE: Is TikT0k Harming Therians?
Posted in: Introduction to Therianthropy Posted by: Tiger_On_Pawrs - 2024-02-28 17:29

It seems like Tikt0k has become a platform where being a therian has become a trend, but unfortunately, it has led to a lot of fake representations of what it truly means to be a therian.

I've noticed that a lot of people on Tikt0k are posting quadrobics and claiming to be therians, when in reality, participating in quadrobics does not automatically make someone a therian. It's important to remember that being a therian is a deeply personal and not always past lives or a strong connection to animals, and it's not something that should be taken lightly or used for clout on social media.

I also want to give a shoutout to the real therians who are using TikTok to educate and inform others about the community.

I think it's important to recognize the efforts of those who are working to dispel myths and promote understanding about therianthropy. It's not always easy to put yourself out there and challenge misconceptions, so I really applaud those who are doing so.

Controversy causes contention, especially if someone takes it as I'm saying that they are invalid for being a spiritual Therian

Hello Hey, this is what I think.

Ive always acted bird and dog-like. It soothing to me, plus the longing to be something other than human is there. Its no secret to me and the people who interact with me that I am neurodivergent. And thats what I think therianthropy is, a wiring of the brain. I think my brain developed differently, and now, I act the way I do.
Honestly thats all I can really say on this subject, because thats all it is for me x3

Thank you guys for reading anyway :dheart:

That would be psycological therianthropy in a nutshell.

I guess so ^^' I had a lot more in my head and couldnt get it into words. sorry for the waste of a post Sad

Sorry that was intended as an affirmation not to chastise, the post is not a waste at all.

Its ok! I hate being redundant, thank you for the response Smile

Every post is valuable. If nothing else, you show that you see things the way others here do.
