Full Version: Being a Therian doesn't make you a bad person

Hello,

Some of you may have had trouble explaining your Therianthropy to your parents, or similar.

And they may have looked at you in dismay and let you know that they do not approve of your Therianthropy.

But Therianthropy is something that you were born with, something about you that you cannot change. So, there is nothing you can do to resolve this. This can lead to a lot of bad feelings on both sides.

Regardless of what anyone says, it is important to remember that being a Therian does not make you a bad person. Therianthropy isn't bad, it's just what you are. Accept it.

Other people may not understand, but please, do not feel guilty for being a Therian. You cannot change what you are, even if you wanted to. And you are a good person, just by existing. Other people, even if they are someone you really trust, can be wrong. Give them time and they will learn.

Your therianthropy is a part of you, and learning to live with it, will help you live better.

Thank you for reading.

LP,
Dusty
I'd like to add that you should never be ashamed of who you are. You're YOU: a beautiful, intelligent, amazing individual and you deserve love. And if you cannot find that from one group, keep searching, because there are others like you who do understand and who do accept you as you are.

Just always remember that no matter what, YOU'RE AWESOME!
I needed this. My Therianthropy has been something I struggled with my whole life, and lately I've been feeling like I'm some sort of monster because of it. I don't feel fully human and I don't feel fully dog, so I'm sort of losing my place in society, so to speak. This thread has been really encouraging.

You're probably the furthest creature from a monster I can think of. You're just a big, fluffy grayhound. ^_^

Thank you for posting this, Dusty. This wolf needed it. <3

If I may quote Max Ehrmann's poem, Desiderata:

"Be yourself.
Especially, do not feign affection.
Neither be cynical about love;
for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,
gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
Beyond a wholesome discipline,
be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,
no less than the trees and the stars;
you have a right to be here.
And whether or not it is clear to you,
no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should."
